What's New in Product Heroes? Big Changes

Hey,

Guess what? I’m changing the Product Heroes Newsletter!

Here is the new message:

Level up, Build Confidence and Deliver the Right Thing at the Right Time the Right Way

Situation. What’s happening?

I have sent over 20k words to you in the past 20 editions.

But, I am not sure what you like the most. My content, consulting and training are all products I am building.

I want you to enjoy my emails and find them helpful.

Engagement through retention is what matters the most at the beginning.

And, if you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it.

It was hard to understand the newsletter’s value as I had a low feedback rate.

I’ve also seen that many people send emails on the weekend. I sometimes don’t read them.

Looking at my behaviour, not reading half of it, I understand that there was a problem with how I thought about it.

The Change: What’s new?

I care about the value I am bringing. It is a critical aspect for Digital Leaders and Product People.

Yet, it is valuable if you ship and deliver on the promise.

The new format is coming from my love for games.

Tabletop role-playing games played a foundational role in my upbringing. Those games helped my journey.

I am using the gamification elements for the new Product Heroes Newsletter.

There are four pillars in Gamification: autonomy, purpose, relatedness, and mastery.

It’s at the core of my upcoming book on digital leadership. I aim to infuse these elements into each newsletter.

The Solution: What it will look like?

Here is what you will see:

  • What is the Adventure? Each newsletter will focus on a specific ‘quest’. It correlates with a chapter or section in my upcoming book.
  • What’s the situation? A short summary what you can expect from this quest.
  • What’s the challenge? A small story or problem we’ll solve.
  • What you will need? Skills, tools and concepts to solve the quest.
  • Extra Insights: A link to read or listen to know more.

What else to expect?

  • How Long: Emails will be short, about 600-700 words.
  • When: You’ll get the email on Wednesday or Thursday.

The new style will target a specific pain point or a readers’ challenge. It will be a choice based on a situation you want to solve.

Imagine it like a series of playbooks.

I’m excited about this new chapter and would love your thoughts.

Can’t wait to hear what you think!

What’s next?

Next week, we’ll start a new adventure.

How to make a product from start to finish?

The full product development process.

Want a quest topic covered? Reply and let me know what challenges you’re facing that you’d like to see transformed into a future quest.

Stay tuned.
